With the aim to reignite the motivation for sports and social activities through the power of sports, this sport climbing competition will be a ray of hope not only for the climbing world, sports world, but also for society as a whole, which have been greatly affected by COVID-19.

The global turmoil caused by the pandemic, which no one had imagined until a few months ago, had a great impact on national sport climbers in Japan. As a result of the cancelation of major international competitions, the goal of the Japanese national team to play an active role and the dream to work hard and win came to an abrupt halt. Nevertheless, Athlete Committee and Athlete Development Committee members did not want to see this season end without a competition. In a collaborated effort, we have been able to organize an event for the athletes to perform their best and shine.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the people who have supported us during these difficult and uncertain times. I believe this event will not only bring back excitement but also create new hopes and dreams for our children, sport climbing enthusiasts and fans all over the world as they see Japan’s top climbers take on the boulders.

This would have been the year of the Olympics where…

The new challenges have made us reflect deeply "the joy of playing sports, the value of sports, and the pricelessness of a community that engages in sports."

We hope that the hosting and success of this competition will help bring a better tomorrow for everyone.
